More about this piece….
Painted from a moment of quiet wonder in a Norwegian winter, this piece holds space for the many paths we take in life — the ones we carve out for ourselves, and the ones we’re invited into by those we love. It’s about following your own joy, honouring someone else’s, and sharing in the beauty of where it leads.
This little house by the fjord was a place we never would’ve found on our own — but we were gently led there, through snow and stillness, by someone whose path had taken them far from home and into their own becoming. In that moment, it felt like we were standing inside a quiet kind of magic. A sense of belonging. A feeling of home.
The piece began, like many of my works, with willow charcoal — a soft outline, a sense of where I was going. From there, I layered in acrylic with a brush, then returned again and again with palette knife work that became bolder and more textured than in most of my paintings. It was a way of honouring the strength I felt in that stillness. Not a perfect copy of what I saw, but a reflection of what moved in me.
This painting holds that memory, that feeling, that winter light — and the quiet reminder that the path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be the right one.

More Information on Prints
This artwork was originally created using acrylic on canvas, with soft charcoal markings beneath layered textures and palette knife finishes.
You’re purchasing a fine art print, made using archival inks on museum-grade paper. The paper has a soft, tactile quality that holds the depth and detail of the original beautifully. All of my fine art prints are created using Epson printers capable of exceptional colour depth, with archival-grade inks on Ilford Galerie Textured Cotton Rag 310gsm — a museum-quality paper with a soft, painterly feel.
This beautiful 100% cotton rag matte paper has a subtle texture that becomes part of the image itself, enhancing lighter areas and giving the piece dimension. It’s designed for lasting image stability and crisp detail — so you can enjoy your piece for many years to come.
Each print is hand-packaged in my home studio in the Perth Hills, using minimal plastic and materials chosen with care for the environment.
The original artwork will be part of an upcoming exhibition in 2026 and will be available for purchase then. Stay updated by subscribing to the MK Collectors.
