More about this piece….
This piece was painted from a quiet moment during a snowy walk in a small town just outside of Oslo — a place layered with history, stillness, and love. We were out walking, taking in the hush of winter, when a house caught my eye. Steady, grounded, and gently beautiful. It wasn’t grand or showy — just quietly full. Like it had been lived in well.
Warmth Behind the Walls is about that feeling. Of family. Of gathering. Of being welcomed into a space where you’re known and loved — not for anything you’ve done, but simply because you’re there. It’s a reflection of long meals, familiar laughter, shared mornings, and the kind of presence that doesn’t need to announce itself.
This painting began, like many in this collection, with willow charcoal — a loose outline of what was felt rather than precisely seen. Acrylic layers followed, slowly built to create depth and memory, with palette knife texture added to honour the quiet strength of that moment.
It’s more than a scene. It’s a reminder — of what it means to belong, and of the deep-rooted warmth that lives in the most ordinary moments.
More Information on Prints
This artwork was originally created using acrylic on canvas, with soft charcoal markings beneath layered textures and palette knife finishes.
You’re purchasing a fine art print, made using archival inks on museum-grade paper. The paper has a soft, tactile quality that holds the depth and detail of the original beautifully. All of my fine art prints are created using Epson printers capable of exceptional colour depth, with archival-grade inks on Ilford Galerie Textured Cotton Rag 310gsm — a museum-quality paper with a soft, painterly feel.
This beautiful 100% cotton rag matte paper has a subtle texture that becomes part of the image itself, enhancing lighter areas and giving the piece dimension. It’s designed for lasting image stability and crisp detail — so you can enjoy your piece for many years to come.
Each print is hand-packaged in my home studio in the Perth Hills, using minimal plastic and materials chosen with care for the environment.
The original artwork will be part of an upcoming exhibition in 2026 and will be available for purchase then. Stay updated by subscribing to the MK Collectors.
